ABOUT THE ROLE


The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of our sand and gravel facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of materials. This role provides leadership across plant operations, personnel management, equipment oversight, quality control, environmental compliance, and community relations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced operations professional with a strong understanding of the aggregates industry. They value planning, structured processes, and disciplined execution, and are committed to driving operational excellence. The Plant Manager leads by example, fosters a culture of safety and accountability, and continuously seeks opportunities to improve performance, productivity, and compliance.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

 

  • Oversees the daily operations, personnel, equipment, quality, community relations and safety and environmental compliance at the sand and gravel operation to ensure efficient material production. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Overseeing material offloading, screening, drying, and stockpiling of materials. Embraces bestpractices, processes and tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are best inclass.

  • Effectively utilizes maintenance programs to maximize plant up-time and manage costs

  •  Ensuring full compliance with MSHA and Amrize safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

  •  Managing subcontractor relationships, ensuring strong communication with vendors and suppliers.

  • Managing heavy machinery on a limited footprint, including loaders, conveyors, customer trucks.

  • Scheduling staff, coordinating trucks, and managing inventory through coordination with sales team and quality control to meet customer demand.

  • Supervising union/non-union workforce, fostering positive employee relations to ensure a safand productive work environment.

  • Developing operational and capital plans designed to continuously improve productivity and maintain appropriate operating costs.

  • Prepares budgets and forecasts.  Prepares rolling 12 month production forecasts monthly and works closely with sales.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
Field of Study Preferred: Business, Engineering
Required Work Experience: 3 years’ plus experience working in materials production (sand, gravel, aggregate)

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Good, planning, scheduling and interpersonal skills
  • Previous supervisor experience to include understandings of unions
  • Experience championing safety culture; demonstrable understanding of working safely with heavy equipment and energy sources
  • Proficient computer skills to include Inventory tracking, spreadsheets and word
  • Ability to recognize and resolve production problems
  • Experience meeting production goals while maintaining the integrity of the safety program.
  • Needs to have a basic working knowledge of several of the following: electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and conveyors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved
  • Personal Protection Equipment , including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
