ABOUT THE ROLE
The Scale Attendant (Weighmaster) is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of all inbound and outbound truckloads at a sand and gravel surface mining operation. This role is essential to maintaining the flow of shipments, coordinating with dispatch, and ensuring proper documentation of shipments. The Scale Attendant serves as the first point of contact for truck drivers and must maintain high standards of customer service, attention to detail, and data accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure accurate weighing and documentation of all vehicle movements on and off the scale. 
  • Provide clear and courteous communication to truck drivers and customers at the scale. 
  • Accurately issue tickets (Bills of Lading) reflecting the correct customer, material, and weight. 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Central Dispatch to ensure order accuracy and efficient truck flow. 
  • Enter and manage data in the scale system including vehicle records for new trucks. 
  • Respond to phone and in-person inquiries with professionalism and efficiency. 
  • Support daily operational goals by helping manage site traffic and workflow at the scale house. 
  • Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies in documentation or vehicle information. 
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Additional Education Preferred: None required. 
  • Field of Study Preferred: Logistics, Business Administration, Customer Service, or related fields (preferred but not required). 
  • Required Work Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a customer service, logistics, or data entry role. 
  • Experience in the construction materials, trucking, or mining industries is an asset. 
  • Required Training/Certifications: None required. 
  • Required Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers and office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience with ticketing or weighbridge software systems is an asset. 
  • Travel Requirements: 0% overnight travel. Position is located on-site.

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure. 
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with team members. 
  • Willingness to work in a high-traffic industrial setting. 
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved
  • Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
