ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the SAB Controller for Construction, the Senior Job Cost Accountant serves as a critical financial business partner for our operational leaders. You will go beyond traditional reporting to interpret field events from a financial perspective, helping the business understand key drivers to maximize product line results. This role requires a strategic thinker who can ensure rigorous financial controls while actively collaborating with project managers, procurement, and operations to drive profitability.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Provide dedicated financial business partnership to SAB construction operations, translating daily activities and events into clear financial insights.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and medium-term business planning in collaboration with operational leaders.
- Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations to leadership to support business and operational decisions.
- Lead job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project financial reviews to ensure accurate project reporting and revenue recognition.
- Partner with Project Managers to perform variance analysis and maintain accurate ETC and EAC forecasts for active projects.
- Evaluate and incorporate the financial impact of project change orders into job costing and project forecasts.
- Manage core accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, controls, and compliance for Southern Alberta operations.
- Support audits, bids and proposals, and finance-related system and process improvement initiatives, including ERP/SAP and BI enhancements.
- Champion process and system improvements, strengthen collaboration across finance and operations, and support the standardization of activities to achieve overarching finance objectives.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: University Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
Required Work Experience: 5+ years of progressive financial management, job costing, or operational accounting experience, handling complex roles.
Required Technical Skills: MS Office, (List all software, platform, and any other technical skills, both required and preferred)
Travel Requirements: 15%
Additional Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) would be considered an asset
- Prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or an operational shared-services environment is highly preferred.
- Exceptional financial analysis and cost control capabilities.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP experience is a significant asset) and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders—both with and without formal authority.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into operational action items.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
