ABOUT THE ROLE 
Amrize Canada Inc is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for the construction industry and has an immediate opportunity at our Calgary Bagging Cement Terminal for a Full Time Terminal Operator Assistant position. 
 
The main focus of this role is to ensure the terminal's cleanliness and general housekeeping while operating and maintaining terminal equipment. Responsibilities will also include bulk truck loading, bulk rail car unloading, and associated administrative reporting functions. The successful candidate must maintain high safety and quality assurance standards at all times. This role also involves a higher percentage of physical work. All necessary operation, equipment, and safety training will be provided. 

 
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Amrize Canada Inc’s safety and environmental policies
  • Terminal Housekeeping - General labour related duties and cleanup
  • Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semi-trucks
  • Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
  • Operate a forklift to load and unload packaged cement
  • Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
  • Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers’ activities on site
  • Inventory control
  • Other associated duties that the employee is trained for
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
     

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent 
Required Work Experience: Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
Required Training/Certifications: Valid class 5 driver’s license
Technical Experience: Computer literacy- Google platform is a benefit
Additional Requirements: 

  • Ability to work overtime and willing to work shift work if required
  • Comfortable and capable of working outdoors and at heights
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety
  • Mechanical aptitude is a positive attribute
  • Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
  • Physically fit to encompass labor requirements of role - Able to lift 55 lbs
  • Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
