ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Dump Truck Driver to support operations at the Kirby Road Asphalt plant location in Clinton, MD. This position will be responsible for Haul and deliver materials such as sand, gravel, dirt, and construction debris to designated locations.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Drive and maneuver the dump truck in a safe, efficient manner on job sites and public roads.
- Transport Materials: Haul and deliver materials such as sand, gravel, dirt, and construction debris to designated locations.
- Load and Unload Materials: Ensure proper loading and safely operate the hydraulic bed to dump materials as instructed.
- Perform Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check for mechanical issues and ensure safety compliance.
- Follow Traffic and Safety Regulations: Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving laws and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain Vehicle Cleanliness and Condition: Keep the truck clean and in good working order; report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Complete Logs and Paperwork: Maintain accurate delivery records, daily logs, mileage, fuel usage, and inspection reports.
- Communicate with Dispatch and Site Personnel: Stay in contact with dispatchers and follow directions from supervisors at delivery sites.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Field of Study Preferred: N/A
- Required Work Experience: Experience operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes.
- Travel Requirements: 50% of the time
- Valid CDL (Class A)
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no violations
- Experience operating dump trucks and hydraulic systems.
- Skilled in operating manual or automatic transmissions.
- Comfortable driving in varied conditions (construction sites, uneven terrain, highways).
- Ability to safely back up and maneuver large trucks in tight spaces
- Strong understanding of DOT and site safety regulations with a commitment to safe driving practices.
- Ability to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Good physical condition for climbing in/out of trucks, handling materials, and working in outdoor conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional, with a strong work ethic and attention to schedules.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, site personnel, and completing daily logs or paperwork.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
