ABOUT THE ROLE

The Projects Manager’s primary objective is to create and implement capital projects that provide business support and growth for the regional Aggregate Construction Materials business. The successful candidate will serve as a central figure for all stakeholders including Operations, Health & Safety, Land & Environmental, Finance, Procurement, Performance, Capital, and others so that capital requests are always progressing from inception to execution.  The project manager will be responsible for the planning, drafting, executing, and closing out all capital projects safely, on time, and within budget. Effective communication is critical for this position to identify, evaluate, and abide by all company policies and overcome any potential hurdles before they become an issue.  The position requires collaborate problem solving to deal with schedule changes, budget constraints, and evolving policies. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Work with Operations to identify problems and strategic solutions.  Explore these solutions by meeting with vendors, contractors, and other subject matter experts to determine the best course of action.
  • Supports Operations Management at the local level in developing strategic prospects for the acquisition of new sites and aggregate reserve prospects.
  • Draft project charters and review with relevant stakeholders prior to project submission.  Upon project submission, serve as the central figure to answer any questions that may arise during the approval process.
  • Facilitate timely project review, funds release, and PO issuance for all capital projects.
  • Work with Operations and other departments to form the annual Mid-Term Plan, a three-year capital project wish list for all sites.
  • Draft Management of Change forms and issue alongside respective supporting departments.
  • Work with Finance to begin capitalization and depreciation on incoming assets attained through capital requests.
  • Interface with contractors utilized in project work, including the coordination of quotes, selection, and prompt invoice processing.
  • Prepare cost estimates and justifications for the capital plan and control capital spending. Manage costs in accordance with the budget.
    Provide technical expertise based upon past experience.
  • Enforce the company’s Accounting and Reporting Principles
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education:  Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred:  Environmental, Mechanical, Mining, Civil Engineering, or related science and technical discipline, Project Management.   
Required Work Experience:  3-5 years

Required Training/Certifications: Formal leadership training, team building, continuous improvements, and related fields.
Required Computer and Software Skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AggFlow, SAP ERP, and various other programs preferred.

Travel Requirements:  20% with regional business 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
