ABOUT THE ROLE

 

This role is a key within the cement plant team, accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company’s cement manufacturing facility. The position provides end-to-end oversight of clinker production and maintenance, including kiln, fuel handling, pyro-processing, and associated material handling systems that form the core of cement manufacturing. Responsibilities include operational and maintenance planning, process optimization, performance monitoring, and cross-functional coordination of maintenance, production, quality, and reliability functions. Responsibilities also include major kiln outages and turnaround execution, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven and root-cause methodologies. The role requires strong technical credibility, excellent communication skills, analytical problem-solving and sound operational decision-making.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

 

  • Operate as a team member of the Manufacturing Performance Center (MPC) team.
  • Provide technical expertise to all manufacturing plants and facilities.
  • Improve equipment net availability, Meantime between failure (MTBF) and decrease overall maintenance cost.
  • Analyze equipment failures to determine causes; develop and recommend solutions.
  • Assist plants with executing major shutdown standard preventive maintenance routines (PMR´s).
  • Provide input to changes in the existing preventive maintenance program based on field inputs, performance reviews and failure investigations.
  • Coordinate contractors or contract personnel working on assigned special projects related to reliability improvements.
  • Manage minor maintenance projects / tasks as assigned
  • Participate in special assessments, surveys and studies when required
  • Implement use of new technologies, cost saving techniques/materials and improved safety procedures.
  • Assist plants in the preparation and implementation of critical equipment repairs that impact defined key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage and supervise specialty services relating to kilns including conditioned based maintenance (CbM), preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs.
  • Establish baseline CbM data as needed to help ensure the success of existing/new installations and modifications.
  • Work with plants to establish and maintain kiln shell profile standards for high operating reliability of existing/new equipment.
  • Be a resource to plants for training on kilns, technical assistance, follow-up and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Education: Bachelor's degree or   years of equivalent experience

 

Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree

 

Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical Engineering

 

Required Work Experience: 

  • 7-10 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience is desired.
  • 3+ years in the cement manufacturing or related industry is strongly preferred.

 

Required Training/Certifications:

 

Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of SAP is preferred

 

Travel Requirements: 30% - 50%

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to provide engineering support on a 24-hour operation.
  • Achieving a level considered expert.
  • Comprehensive personal computer software knowledge required.
  • Obtain certification and conformance to maintenance & reliability regulations for up-to-date concepts/technology and systems.
  • Principles of equipment reliability analysis methods such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
  • Good leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting.
  • Desire/drive for continuous improvement.
  • Team player who enjoys working with diverse groups of people, i.e. at all levels.
  • Self-starter with initiative/energy to work with people, develop ideas, and drive maintenance improvement.
  • Strong and demonstrated planning, follow-up, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Able to facilitate the collaboration of employees in process teams.
  • Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Make sound decisions based on a thorough analysis of available data/information, and follows up on critical issues.

  • Initiate action to achieve goals beyond what is required, is innovative and cost and safety conscious in approach to process improvement.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency for area of responsibility and the ability to translate technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
