Journeyman Welder

ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge is looking for a Welder who will support with fixing and repairing equipment such as; cone crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, washing equipment, and cyclones. In this role, you will be able to fabricate and weld with limited direction. This is a fast paced production environment, so mechanical aptitude is important. You will need to be a safety minded individual who can think on their feet and adapt to changing situations.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Perform welding repair and maintenance to production-related equipment, machinery, and structures.

Utilize various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components according to project specifications.

Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to execute precise welds.

Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure they meet industry standards and project requirements.

Use non-destructive testing methods when necessary to assess weld quality.

Prepare work pieces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal using various tools and equipment.

Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components before welding.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Experience welding in an industrial environment is an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Redseal Journeyman’s Welder certification.Valid driver’s license. CWB FCAW/MCAW all positions an asset

Additional Requirements:

Must be free of site-bans and available to work at all site in RMWB

Must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary

Ability to fabricate and design

Use of air arc equipment

Gas cutting and stick welding

Able to read engineered blueprints.

Must be able to work under pressure

Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
