ABOUT THE ROLE
Performs various tasks associated with the safe and efficient of stripping, extraction and aggregate processing. Provides leadership to shift, especially in absence of the supervisor.
 
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Provides direct oversight in the extraction, processing, storage, and assists in the shipping of aggregates at the site, contributing to production goals.
  • Supervises a crew in a quarry setting, ensuring safe and efficient operations, coordinating tasks, and providing guidance to team members.
  • Bridges the gap between the crew and supervisors, facilitating communication and problem-solving. 
  • Organizes daily schedules for processing, stockpiling, and loading materials, while inspecting equipment to maximize production
  •  Acts as a working foreman, directing crew members while participating in manual labor or machine operation.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and build culture and team through mentoring and training. Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are best in class.
  • Monitors production needs, ensuring adequate materials are available, and assisting with maintenance and repairs.
  • Operating and maintaining various pieces of heavy equipment, including crushers, screens, and other stationary plant machinery. 
  • Utilizes maintenance programs to maximize plant up-time and manage costs.
  • Effectively communicating with supervisors, team members, and other personnel, both verbally and via two-way radio.
  • Troubleshooting issues, identifying potential problems, and finding solutions to maintain smooth operations.
  • Maintaining records of quarry activities, completing safety reports, and preparing other necessary paperwork. 
  • Assure employees are task trained
  • Promotes a positive safety culture and prioritizes safety rules ensuring compliance with MSHA and with all company policies.
  • Serves as the site responsible person during the absence of the plant manager.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Work Experience: Three plus years related experience and/or training to include experience working with materials, aggregate or heavy civil construction.
Required Technical Skills:
Basic computer skills, to include Microsoft Office preferred.

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Strong understanding of mining processes, MSHA regulations, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to motivate crews, train new employees, and foster a team-oriented environment. 
  • Displays thorough understanding of safety regulations, including MSHA standards
  • Ability to operate and maintain quarry equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to organize work, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to think critically, troubleshoot problems, and find solutions efficiently. 
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
