ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for operation of bulk silo station and loading finished cement into bulk trucks and railroad hopper cars. Weighs raw material delivery trucks in & out. Interface in a positive manner with external and internal
customers. Inspect shipping work areas, and perform housekeeping of areas of responsibility. Load rail cars as needed, Operate railcar mover.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Receives shipping orders online, from sales office, order desk, SAP. Prepares and issues Bill of Lading to accurately record information.
  • Spots trucks for loading and positions feed spout into trucks.
  • Manually spots hopper cars for loading by using brake and jack, and positions feed spout.
  • Weighs trucks and hopper cars empty and loaded.
  • Must operate a computer (SAP, email, etc.), control board, and scale to load cement into trucks and/or hopper cars. Selects the proper type of cement according to requirements.
  • Records truck or hopper car shipment, destination, weight, type of cement and any other pertinent information through the computer system and makes any necessary corrections.
  • Seals hopper cars.
  • Maintains record of silo from which cement was pulled.
  • Issues mill certificates, when required.
  • Keeps equipment and assigned loading area, silo office, airslides and 2nd floor areas clean and replaces burned out light bulbs in all areas.
  • Weigh & record raw material trucks, incoming and outgoing.
  • Measures silo contents if necessary, and logs according to plant procedures.
  • Logs information, malfunctions and record of shipments according to site procedures.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and repair problems to Shipping and Services Supervisor and logs and documents according to procedure.
  • Take cement samples as directed and necessary. Includes all “as shipped” samples according to plant procedure.
  • Operates railcar mover (Trackmobile) as either engineer or brakeman.
  • Operates track switches, as necessary.
  • Operate manual controls of railcars for releasing, setting brakes and connecting cars.
  • Inspects rail and reports any problems to Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Education:  High School diploma/GED

Additional Education Preferred: Mechanical Qualifications/Certificates of training

Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical Maintenance

Required Work Experience: 3 - 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of overall cement plant operations, or comparable heavy industrial environment, is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
