ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of high-quality construction materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Engineer Production II to support operations within our Aspahlt divison throughout Prince Georges County, Charles County and Anne Arundel County. The Engineer Production II is responsible for optimizing plant production processes, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining product quality through effective quality control practices. This role analyzes production data, supports mix design and process improvements, troubleshoots operational challenges, and collaborates with plant teams to improve productivity, consistency, reliability, and compliance with quality standards
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Assist with daily asphalt plant production by monitoring production activities and supporting efficient plant operations.
- Travel regularly to asphalt plants, laboratories, and construction job sites.
- Collect, record, and maintain production data, including production volumes, material usage, process orders, and operational reports.
- Monitor plant production and communicate with plant personnel to help maintain production schedules and consistent product quality.
- Perform routine quality control testing on asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and raw materials in accordance with DOT, company, and customer specifications.
- Collect material samples from plants and job sites and accurately document test results.
- Assist with asphalt mix verification, calibration checks, and production adjustments under the guidance of Quality Control and Operations personnel.
- Review laboratory and field test results to identify quality trends and report any inconsistencies or non-conforming materials.
- Support troubleshooting of production and quality issues by gathering data and assisting with root cause investigations.
- Monitor inventory of raw materials and finished products and assist with inventory reconciliation and reporting.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and laboratory records using Microsoft Office and company production systems.
- Participate in plant inspections to verify equipment, production processes, and quality standards are being followed.
- Assist with preventive maintenance planning by reporting equipment issues and supporting maintenance documentation.
- Work closely with Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, and Operations teams to improve plant efficiency and product consistency.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve production processes, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in field visits to asphalt plants and paving operations to observe production processes and verify product performance.
- Assist with safety inspections, Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JHA), training activities, and compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Must successfully obtain Quality Control Technician I and Quality Control Technician II certifications within one (1) year of hire.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and work environment.
- Perform other production, quality control, and engineering support duties as assigned.

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR
- Education:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering or technical discipline required. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 25–50% to asphalt plant locations and job sites to support production operations, quality control activities, process improvements, plant audits, and cross-functional projects.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, or construction materials.
- Interest in learning asphalt production processes, asphalt mix designs, and quality control testing procedures.
- Ability to perform material sampling and quality control testing in accordance with company procedures, DOT specifications, and industry standards after appropriate training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and analyze production and quality data.
- Mechanical aptitude with an interest in industrial equipment, plant operations, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret production reports, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate production, laboratory, and quality records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with SAP or other production management systems is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to work in both office and outdoor plant environments and perform field and laboratory testing as needed.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the ability to follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
