ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize is recruiting full-time Diesel Mechanics based in our Metairie Shop. This position will maintain and repair heavy construction, automotive equipment, mechanical equipment, and machinery for our Louisiana Ready Mix Division.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
As directed and guided by the Maintenance Supervisor, the essential duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following;
- Maintain an effective system of communication with supervisors and customers.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Assist other mechanics as needed.
- Have basic computer proficiency and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good organizational skills, be able to meet strict deadlines, and document issues and procedures.
- Can work in a team atmosphere and learn new tasks
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work unsupervised.
- Other duties as needed
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures. Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems. Maintain and repair chassis, frames, and bodies. Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters. Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, and valves. Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control; making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license, Class A or B commercial driver’s license preferred
- 3 years experience directly related to the duties or mechanics school graduate (Heavy equipment diesel engines and transmissions)
- Physical Requirements: Requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. They may be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Must be able to stand for long periods on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including the ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift 100 pounds unassisted.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
