ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Transportation Coordinator, this position will help to oversee the implementation of the defined global and U.S. safety initiatives into its assigned regional ACM business. The Shipping Supervisor manages Scale Operators across Aggregates operations, and is responsible for coordinating and ensuring continuous scale coverage throughout the region. They will assist in the coordination of trucks and dispatch orders to ensure maximum efficiency of trucking. Additionally, the Shipping Supervisor will assist in managing third party carrier compliance with safety and documentation.  

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Provide visible leadership in the area of shipping operations
  • Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • Provides excellent customer support to internal and external customers;
  • Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental, and DOT requirements are followed at ALL times;
  • Ensure that all COD order money is collected and properly documented. Prepare deposit bags in accordance with company policies;
  • Ensures that tickets are verified for numbers, dated and time accuracy and ensure that customer trucks (internal and external customers) leave the yard properly loaded;
  • Coordinates truck dispatch to jobs with orders received from Dispatch Office, and operates computer to produce appropriate customer tickets. Verifies tickets for numbers, date, and time accuracy. Collects COD money and properly records it;
  • Provides scale coverage as needed across region;
  • Responsible to training and development of Scale Operators;
  • Drives housekeeping initiatives to ensure scale houses are clean and orderly;
  • Coordinate and track vacation days for Scale Operators, and ensure coverage of scales without interruption to operations and customers
  • Responsible for assisting with carrier incident investigations and making recommendations as to which carriers should be used
  • Work with service provider/s and ACM regional team to ensure rates are competitive and capacity is available.
  • Candidate must learn to dispatch trucks electronically through a truck management system (TMS), a cloud based digital freight procurement and management application. The candidate will work closely with the TMS personnel and carriers to onboard new drivers, ensure proper daily usage, and utilize collected data to improve transport safety and cost performance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent  
Additional Education Preferred:  
Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred:  
Logistics and Supply chain Management, Communications, or other related field
Required Work Experience:  
Minimum of 3 years of related experience 
Required Training/Certifications:  
•    
Hazardous cargo / SAP or similar ERP tool
•    Valid US Government issued Driver’s License
Required Technical Skills:  
MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required, SalesForce, Apex and SAP strongly preferred,
Travel Requirements:  
75% (locally)

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required (Portuguese and Spanish is a plus)
  • Ability to do basic math;
    • Add and subtract two (2) digit numbers
    • Multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance
  • Familiarity with unionized work environments
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
