ABOUT THE ROLE

The main objectives of this role are to administer and coordinate the activities of the mechanical, electrical, mobile equipment maintenance and performance activities for the Ontario East Modular facilities and facilitate stripping activities for the region’s aggregate sites. In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets in Ontario East through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines. As part of the Ontario East management team, the incumbent also has a contribution regarding the establishment of maintenance policies and procedures concerning the maintenance activities and general operations. The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations between the maintenance employees and other departments.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures for all employees, contractors and visitors within area of responsibility.
  • Support plants with maintenance planning and performance for 6 million tonnes of aggregate production ensuring financial budgets are adhered to while maximizing plant availability.
  • Implementation and ongoing execution of the Maintenance Module program and support plants with coordination of preventive and proactive maintenance of mobile equipment fleet.
  • Directly responsible for stripping operations involving approximately 600,000 cubic meters of fill per year, ensuring operations perform as cost effective and efficiently as possible.
  • Collaborate on capital project proposals, justifications and implementation, and long term capital planning.
  • Manage the performance, competence and development of department employees through formal and informal reviews.
  • Provide surface miner specialty module training for area quarry workers.
  • Adopt and drive digital processes and procedures.
  • Support and coach plant managers as needed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • B.S. Degree in engineering or 10 years of management experience in the industry. Preferred field of study: Mechanical, electrical, industrial or similar.
  • 5 – 10 years management experience in aggregate processing.
  • Surface miner Common Core, specialty modules, train-the trainer.
  • Mechanical aptitude, computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, building teams experience, planning and time management, leadership, organized, ability to multi-task, and project management.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel Requirements: 15%.
  • Required to be able to drive a vehicle for long periods of time.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
