ABOUT THE ROLE

The prime objective of the Terminal Manager is to manage and operate the Spokane terminal in a safe, efficient, sustainable, and quality assured manner. The incumbent must provide leadership to the terminal employees to meet sales and distribution requirements.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by ensuring all terminal operations meet or exceed company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, reducing risks and incidents.
  • Optimize terminal efficiency by improving productivity, minimizing downtime, and ensuring seamless product movement
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by building and maintaining strong relationships with customers through proactive and reliable service delivery
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team
  • Effectively manage the terminal budget, control operational costs, and enhance efficiency to drive profitability
  • Ensure terminal operations support long-term growth and adaptability through strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure equipment and facility reliability by managing preventive maintenance program
  • Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to improve supply chain efficiency and responsiveness
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Operate the terminal in a safe manner, ensuring all company and state/federal safety standards are met.
  • Provide direction and supervision to the terminal operators.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong customer relationships.
  • Be a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, continuous improvement, safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Coordinate and communicate with sales, shipping locations, carriers, the regional CVC and logistics personnel to ensure efficient terminal operation and reliable customer supply
  • Develop and manage the terminal operating budget.
  • Provide long-term vision to ensure the terminal and operation are positioned to meet long-term company and customer needs.
  • Develop and lead all terminal improvement projects and capital projects in accordance with Lafarge policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain terminal property and equipment in accordance with the terminal Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: College Diploma/University Degree; exceptional and proven experience will be considered in place of formal or different education
Additional Education Preferred:
Field of Study Preferred:
Business, Engineering or related discipline
Required Work Experience:
At least 5 years of experience

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Previous operations or trade experience, demonstrating:
    • Strong Mechanical aptitude
    • Solid business and financial acumen
    • Project experience
  • Logistics background or experience in cement / concrete is an asset
  • Experience in construction materials, rail, trucking, or distribution industry is an asset
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
