ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an enthusiastic student to join our dynamic team as a Land & Resource Co-op Student, where you will be gaining valuable experience in technical resource management and strategic land development. This position can assist to provide the foundational technical hours required for future Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.), Geoscientist-in-Training (G.I.T.) registration or specialism in land and asset management. As a Land & Resource Co-op Student, you will help support the full lifecycle of our operations - from investigating new aggregate prospects to assisting with designing and ensuring reclamation compliance at the end of a site's life. You will work cross functionally within Mining Engineers, Geologists, Land Managers, GIS Specialists, Operations, Environmental team and external stakeholders to sustain and grow our footprint across Western Canada

 

This will be for a 4 or 8 month term, dependent on the successful candidate's availability.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Assist the Geological team & Land Manager on field exploration activities and site walk-overs.
  • Assist with mine planning and volumetrics where appropriate and ensure operations are adhering to permitted mine plans and agreements.
  • Help ensure all SK1300 reports accurately reflect the land and mining situation of the site for annual reporting.
  • Learn how to use mining, design and land information software such as Softree, AutoCAD, and GIS to assist the Land and Resource team.
  • Support the process of securing land and resource permits from provincial and municipal government bodies.
  • Ensure paperwork for permits and approvals is kept up to date and actions are taken for required updates.
  • Maintain positive relationships with landowners, neighbors, local communities, and First Nation groups.
  • Develop an understanding of laws, agreements, and contracts related to real estate, zoning, and reclamation
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in any land related field, Geology, Mining Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Professional Ambition: A strong interest in pursuing a career in land and resource management.
  • Travel Requirements: 30-40% local travel to support operational teams and 10-20% travel outside the local market may be required

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS and/or volumetric software would be a significant advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to represent the company at public or governmental functions.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle competing priorities and multiple projects
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
