ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is responsible for Geocycle’s overall commercial performance for the Western Canada (BC & Alberta) market (sales and marketing, business development, & logistics). The focus will be centered around growing Geocycle’s commercial presence in Western Canada, by identifying potential commercial opportunities from waste generators and waste streams that may be a good fit for Coprocessing at the Amrize cement kilns. In addition, the successful candidate will also identify new potential business opportunities, and collaborate with other Aggregates and Construction Materials (ACM) divisions as well as Amrize Building Envelop (ABE) for synergies on waste processing, driving the circular business of Geocycle and Amrize.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Leads by example and sets the tone for a culture of care and safety excellence within Geocycle operations.
  • Ensures systems and people capabilities are in place for operations to perform within prescribed permits and regulatory considerations.
  • Directly manages customers and suppliers of alternative fuel and alternative raw materials.
  • Leads contract negotiations with all customers and vendors while managing interfaces between Geocycle and Amrize Western Canada operational leaders.
  • Develops and implements the Commercial Strategy for Western Canada in coordination with the Director, Geocycle Canada.
  • Identifies and structures business development opportunities as a team lead or contributor.
  • Develops waste streams or byproducts that serve as viable replacements of virgin fuel and raw materials.
  • Responsible for the revenue, effectiveness, and sustainability of Geocycle-directed waste preparation platforms or partners.
  • Contributes to setting annual revenue, volume, and profit budgets and analyzes results on a monthly basis.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Environment, or related degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial activities including demonstrated business development success growing and scaling businesses.
  • 5+ years of progressive Management or Supervisory experience, preferably in a Commercial setting.
  • Waste Management or AFR experience preferred.
  • Technical skills in Salesforce, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Good understanding of the waste market, regulatory landscape, and cement co-processing capabilities.
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to engage at the senior executive level.
  • Technically and operationally astute regarding waste generators and cement manufacturing plants.
  • Strong relational skills to build rapport and confidence with key influencers.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
