ABOUT THE ROLE
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and management of the operational functions at the Woodstock Plant. The primary focus of this role is leveraging operational excellence by optimizing available resources and achieving the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production. The supervisor will have a strong understanding of the Amrize commitment to Health and Safety, as well as core values including planning production, shipping schedules, optimizing equipment utilization, and maximizing quality slag production, safety, and budgets.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
- Administer, promote, and communicate safety policies and procedures to ensure the site meets or exceeds all Amrize and Regulatory guidelines.
- Manage the workforce regarding recruitment, training, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Foster effective employee relations with the union and ensure employees have daily job lists and clear communication regarding work hours.
- Coach and develop the workforce through the preparation and management of individual development plans
- Develop and implement maintenance, production, and shipping processes to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Coordinate preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance of all plant and infrastructure equipment.
- Produce maintenance plans and schedules to optimize equipment performance and availability.
- Work with the Environmental Manager to implement operational standards that mitigate environmental impact.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor degree or CET preferred.
- At least two years of slag and/or grinding manufacturing experience.
- Excellent leadership ability and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on many tasks at the same time with excellent organizational skills.
- Very strong computer skills.
- Strong communicator (both oral & written)
- Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to handle physical demands including standing, walking, and sitting for 30-60% of the time.
- Must be able to lift maximums of Medium (50 lbs) and frequently Light (10 lbs).
- Flexibility in dealing with hours outside of the normal business day due to 24/7 site operations.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
