ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring that all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished cement products meet stringent quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This position combines hands-on laboratory testing, process monitoring, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the highest levels of product consistency and operational excellence in a heavy industrial environment.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- The Quality Engineer ensures the cement produced is safe, consistent, and high-performing while protecting the company’s reputation and profitability. This role acts as both a technical guardian of product quality and a driver of continuous improvement in a 24/7 industrial operation.
- Monitor and analyze production processes to identify variations, implement corrective actions, and drive process optimization.
- Lead all operations including but not limited to personnel.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality and process stability.
- Evaluate kiln, raw mill, cement mill, and blending process performance using statistical analysis.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality performance reports.
- Report on daily operations in morning daily review meeting.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) investigations for quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conforming products.
- Conduct trials to improve quality and operational performance.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Environmental teams to resolve quality issues and support plant-wide continuous improvement projects.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies and certification agencies.
- Order required supplies for lab operations.
- Perform routine and non-routine quality control testing on raw materials.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Chemical Engineering
Required Work Experience: 1-3 years experience with quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in cement, lime, concrete, minerals, or other heavy process industries.
Required Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of cement chemistry, manufacturing processes (raw mill, kiln, finish mill), and relevant testing standards. Experience with statistical analysis and process capability studies.
Travel Requirements: Minimal
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
