ABOUT THE ROLE
The Shop Labourer provides essential support to shop operations by maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment, assisting with equipment and facility maintenance, supporting mechanics and trades personnel, and ensuring materials, tools, and equipment are available when needed. This role contributes to the efficient operation of the shop and yard by performing a variety of labour, maintenance, and logistical support functions while adhering to all company safety standards and procedures. These positions are based out of our Armstrong location and work sites are throughout the North Okanagan.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Support the maintenance, repair, and readiness of equipment, tools, facilities, and work areas.
- Assist shop personnel and trades employees with projects, repairs, and operational requirements to ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
- Safely operate and care for a variety of equipment and tools, including forklifts, skid steers, pressure washers, and other shop equipment.
- Support the safe and efficient transportation of equipment and materials by operating pilot vehicles for low bed moves as required.
- Support material and inventory management by receiving, organizing, transporting, and retrieving parts, supplies, and equipment as required.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance activities that maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Assist with facility upkeep, grounds maintenance, and general labour activities across the shop and yard.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet operational goals, maintenance schedules, and project timelines.
- Demonstrate professionalism and provide excellent service when interacting with coworkers, vendors, contractors, and customers.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Previous experience working in a shop, yard, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment is considered an asset. Ability to safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other small equipment.
Required Technical Skills: Basic computer and mobile device skills are considered an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver's license required.
Travel Requirements: 20%

- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to complete inspection checklists and basic documentation.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and willingness to learn new skills.
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work is performed primarily in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
