ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The primary objective of the Electrical Engineering Co-Op is to support the Project Manager throughout all phases of a project, including development, planning, and execution. This position is responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining all project-related technical documentation, including engineering drawings, equipment data sheets, safety, quality, and construction documents. The role involves regular field inspections in an industrial environment to develop a thorough understanding of plant electrical and automation requirements. The Co-Op drives a methodical, data-driven approach to solving complex problems and promotes continuous improvement in a fast-paced workplace. This a winter term position running from December 2026 to April 2027. 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

 

  • Support the Project Manager throughout all project phases (development, planning, and execution).
  • Manage, organize, and maintain all technical documentation (drawings, data sheets, safety, quality, and construction documents).
  • Conduct regular field inspections to understand plant electrical and automation requirements.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to establish firm scopes of work for upcoming projects.
  • Partner with procurement to send RFQs and receive contractor bids.
  • Oversee contractors during execution to ensure safe and efficient work.
  • Assist with project commissioning and final hand-off to the production team.
  • Troubleshoot recurring or complex failures using root cause analysis and analytical methods (Pareto diagrams, RCA, FMEA).
  • Update equipment files and SAP bills of material when discrepancies are identified.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

  • Education: Enrolled in a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related program (Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automation) at an accredited University.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation.
  • Required Work Experience: Co-op level / Entry level.
  • Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of SAP PRD, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD (assets).
  • Travel Requirements: Less than 5%


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
