ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking an Internal Audit Intern who is passionate about business and finance, driven by curiosity, and keen to grow, learn, develop, and thrive in our high-performance culture.


This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027 based in Chicago, IL.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As an Internal Audit Intern, you will work closely with our corporate internal audit team, gaining hands-on exposure to internal audit, controls, operational assessments, financial risk evaluations, and governance frameworks:

  • Attend SOX Walkthroughs: Participate in walkthroughs with control owners and assist in the evaluation of the design of controls.
  • Risk Identification: Support the team in identifying operational inefficiencies, internal control deficiencies, and financial compliance risks.
  • Process Documentation: Help review, update, and document business processes, workflows, and control procedures across various operating units.
  • Perform SOX Testing: Perform testing of key controls and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls as part of the Company’s SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) 404 program.
  • Control Remediation Support: Identify and communicate SOX control deficiencies and recommend practical solutions to address identified risks and improve process and control efficiency.
  • Data Analytics & Testing: Utilize data analysis tools to test transaction populations, identify anomalies, and support risk-based audit sample testing.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Assist in drafting audit findings, workpapers, and actionable recommendations for management review.
  • Skill Application: Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals
  • Executive Presentation: At the end of your internship, you'll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

We are looking for enthusiastic students who meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Accounting or Finance. 
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Geographic flexibility
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and firsthand knowledge of our business operations.

 

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
  • Work Environment: You will be working in an office environment. 
  • Transportation: You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Travel Requirements: You may need to travel for site tours, shadowing experiences, or intern events throughout the duration of your internship.
