ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Operations Manager is responsible for driving operational performance and supporting commercial excellence within the asphalt business. This role enhances operational efficiency by providing day-to-day leadership and support for asphalt operations, ensuring the achievement of all targets, budgets, and business objectives. The Operations Manager also contributes to commercial success by maintaining a strong focus on high-quality customer service.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Manage operations to improve production processes, maintenance, and utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Collect, compile, and manage accurate production data and volumes.
  • Partner with the Asphalt team and Performance Group to track KPIs and benchmark performance.
  • Support quality control efforts to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products.
  • Oversee maintenance planning and site improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with supply teams to optimize inventory levels and control costs.
  • Build strong customer relationships by understanding their needs and delivering reliable products, service, and convenience.
  • Work with operational teams to provide excellent customer service while driving efficiencies to maintain a low-cost position.
  • Support the development of budgets, targets, and strategies, and work to achieve them.
  • Prepare accurate, timely production data and reports to support month-end financials and performance tracking .
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: University degree.
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Engineering Technologist or Tradesperson with significant relevant experience.
Required Work Experience: 10 years of experience in plant operations.
Required Training/Certifications: P.Eng., P. Tech, C.E.T, or similar accreditation would be an asset.
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Office, Google Suite.
Travel Requirements: 10% - 20%

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Experience working in Oil & Gas facilities would be an asset.
  • Experience managing truck and rail logistics would be an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective teams and collaborate across all levels.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, flexible, and able to adapt in a changing environment with strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Strategic mindset with solid financial acumen and the ability to support business objectives.
  • Basic technical knowledge of plant operations, mechanical equipment, and construction materials.
  • Good understanding of survey data and geospatial information.
  • Effective negotiation skills with a focus on win-win outcomes.
  • Experience working in and managing within a unionized environment.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
