ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Plant Technician II in our Asphalt Division. Thie Plant Mechanic II will perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment, including low-voltage electrical and mechanical systems, to ensure safe and efficient operations. Support preventative maintenance, assist with basic diagnostics and repairs, and collaborate with the team to minimize downtime and maintain production reliability.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment and systems, including low-voltage electrical components
  • Assist with diagnosing equipment issues using basic testing tools and following established procedures
  • Support preventative maintenance programs on motors, conveyors, pumps, and production equipment
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including sensors, relays, and basic PLC interfaces
  • Assist senior technicians with equipment upgrades, installations, and system improvements
  • Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities to minimize downtime
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and OSHA guidelines while working in the plant
  • Read and interpret basic technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation of work performed
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to support efficient plant operations
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to support production needs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Field of Study Preferred: Industrial Maintenance or a related technical field
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a plant technician role
  • Travel Requirements: Daily travel throughout Prince George County & Anne Arundel County
  • Basic knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, motors, and control components
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues using standard tools and procedures
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and safety practices
  • Ability to read and understand basic schematics, manuals, and technical instructions
  • Strong attention to safety and adherence to OSHA and company guidelines
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Physically capable of performing hands-on work, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying conditions
  • Willingness to learn and grow technical skills in electrical and mechanical systems
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and automated equipment (preferred but not required)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency repairs as needed

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
