ABOUT THE ROLE
To obtain and monitor, by chemical and physical tests, representative samples from Production Department of raw materials, feed, clinker and cement, and advise them of adjustments to insure a quality product with a minimum of variations.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Train and direct material handlers on regular or specialized sampling or take samples when necessary.
- Analyze raw mix with X-ray, wet or physical analysis and instruct Raw Grind on change, and assist in solving any problems.
- Monitor clinker production with X-ray or wet analysis and insure quality clinker used in cement production.
- Monitor cement production with X-ray, wet or physical analyses and oversee adjustments to proportions, admixtures, fineness and air content, assist in solving any problems.
- Record accurately and timely, data for use by management and other departments.
- Perform complete ASTM chemical and physical test on daily composite samples to insure product meets strict plant standards.
- Perform periodic calibration and preventive maintenance checks on all equipment and maintain chemical solutions.
- Ensure by proper test that all cement leaving the plant meets specifications.
- Examine raw materials in regard to variations or potential use.
- Run proficiency samples against other labs.
- Apply and record first aid to injured employees and maintain first aid room
- Take inventories of gypsum and admixtures.
- Train new employees to understand cement specification and be quality conscious.
- Perform microscopic evaluation of cement and clinker.
- Run heat content on calorimeter.
- Explain procedures or results to non-lab personnel.
- Evaluate data and inform Production and Quality Control Supervisor when running outside of parameters.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Applies skills and performs work in other positions as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Education: Associates/Technical Degree
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s/Undergraduate Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering or chemistry
Required Work Experience: At least one year experience in industrial laboratory situation
Required Computer and Software Skills: General Computer proficiency
Travel Requirements: Some local travel

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently shovel for 3 minutes with an 8 lb. shovel, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
