ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Night Maintenance Mechanic to support operations at the Quarry located in Rockville, MD. The primary responsibility of a Maintenance Mechanic at a quarry in the aggregate industry is to inspect, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and plant machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production operations continuous production operations.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy mobile equipment, crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, and other quarry machinery.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous production.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and lubrication-related equipment issues and complete necessary repairs.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs during the night shift to restore safe and efficient operations.
• Conduct welding, fabrication, cutting, and mechanical repairs as needed to maintain plant equipment and infrastructure.
• Replace and repair bearings, belts, chains, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and other mechanical parts.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify potential failures or safety concerns before they result in unplanned downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, document repairs, and communicate equipment issues and outstanding work to the day-shift maintenance team.
• Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations while performing maintenance activities.
• Work closely with plant operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to prioritize repairs and keep quarry operations running safely and efficiently

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Required Work Experience: Experience in Quarry or Industrial Settings
• Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy equipment and plant systems, including crushers, conveyors, and screening plants.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.
• Welding and Fabrication Ability: Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal parts for equipment repairs or modifications.
• Safety Awareness: Committed to following all safety rules and maintaining a safe work environment around heavy machinery.
• Prior hands-on experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a quarry, mining, or industrial environment.
• Reliability and Work Ethic: Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.
• Physical Strength and Endurance: Capable of performing physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.
   

Additional Requirements:

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
