ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Quality Control technician supports commercial excellence and operational performance for the BC Interior Asphalt and Aggregate market. The Technician aims to ensure the quality of aggregate and asphalt products, ensuring customer satisfaction.  Areas of responsibility include the QC testing of aggregate products from multiple sources, QC asphalt testing for 2 locations, and ensuring processes are controlled during production, stockpiling, and loading of aggregate and asphalt. This position supports operations between Vernon and West Kelowna, with job responsibilities performed at multiple locations as operationally required. The primary work location will be Vernon. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality aggregate and asphalt products that meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support operational excellence by providing accurate quality data and insights that drive continuous improvement and production efficiency.
  • Strengthen quality control processes across multiple aggregate and asphalt operations to maintain product consistency and performance.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, and technical teams to resolve quality concerns and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to cost-effective production through quality monitoring, mix optimization support, and effective management of raw material quality.
  • Build strong partnerships with plant teams to proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and operational performance enhancements.
  • Support business success by ensuring timely, accurate reporting and maintaining reliable quality records that inform operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all aspects of aggregate and asphalt production.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in, Engineering, C.E.T or equivalent. relevant combination of education and experience will be considered

Field of Study Preferred: Civil/mechanical engineering, trades.

Required Work Experience: 1-5 years experience in a civil construction related field or materials testing. Running equipment, surveying, estimating, trades or labouring.

Required Training/Certifications: Civil Engineering Technologist is preferred but not required.

Required Technical Skills: Microsoft 365, Google Suite, SAP, GIS and Survey software. Knowledge of CSA, ASTM, MMCD standards.

Travel Requirements: 40% Travel and 5% Overnight

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
