Plant Mechanic Supervisor
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has immediate opening for a Plant Mechanic Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations within our Ready Mix concrete production facilities. This role is responsible for leading a team of mechanics and ensuring all plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically strong, and capable of supervising both preventive and corrective maintenance programs in a fast-paced industrial environment. This position also requires travel between multiple Ready Mix plant locations throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia to support operational needs, equipment reliability, and maintenance coordination across sites based on the weekly work schedule.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Ensure maximum plant reliability by leading all mechanical maintenance operations for Ready Mix production equipment.
- Minimize unplanned downtime through effective preventive maintenance programs and rapid response troubleshooting.
- Supervise and develop a skilled team of mechanics to improve performance, accountability, and technical capability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and equipment control issues across plant systems.
- Oversee repair and maintenance of batch plants, conveyors, mixers, motors, pumps, and aggregate handling systems.
- Improve overall plant efficiency by identifying root causes of recurring equipment failures and implementing long-term solutions.
- Coordinate closely with plant operations and production teams to align maintenance priorities with production goals.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and work order execution to support continuous plant operation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and equipment histories to support reliability and compliance.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture while driving operational excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the plant.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Bacherlor's Degree or 5 to 7 years of Relevant Experience
- Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Required Work Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in one or more of the following: Ready Mix concrete plants or Heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
- Travel Requirements: 20-30 % percent
- Minimum 3-4 years of supervisory or lead mechanic experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair equipment failures quickly.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and reliability-based maintenance practices.
- Experience with Ready Mix batching plants, conveyors, mixers, and aggregate systems strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and supervise maintenance teams in a high-production environment.
- Ability to perform structural repairs, fabrication, and field modifications on plant equipment.
- Experience reinforcing or repairing wear components, chutes, frames, hoppers, and conveyors is a major advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for industrial equipment failures.
- Welding experience strongly preferred and highly valued: Stick (SMAW) welding ,MIG welding experience or TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and emergency repairs.
- Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Strong communication skills with operations, maintenance teams, and management.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, or emergency call-outs when needed.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with inventory control and maintenance tracking systems preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
