ABOUT THE ROLE

The Site Supervisor is responsible for the production and maintenance activities at the Caledon Plant which is one of Amrize’s largest sand and gravel operations in Eastern Canada. The Site Supervisor’s primary focus is to lead the health and safety of the site. This will be done while leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production at all stages of the operation. The Site Supervisor will lead by example supporting alignment with all functional groups, including Safety, Environment, Land, and Manufacturing to drive communication and consistency. The Site Supervisor is part of the engagement with our neighbours and local communities to ensure we are viewed as a valued member of the industry and local community.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Safety Leadership: Develop and instill a site-level safety culture through consistent engagement with employees and contractors with an objective of “zero” harm. Lead daily huddles and participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure front-line employee compliance to all applicable local and regional health & safety policies and initiatives, including hazard reporting, risk assessment, Working at Heights, Confined Space, Energy Isolation, and Hot Work.
  • Auditing & Subcontractors: Assist in the preparation for and participation in periodic health & safety site audits, and assist in administering the site Contractor Safety Management program by completing orientations and auditing performance.
  • Team Development: Directly oversee the development, motivation, and training of all direct reports to maximize performance; administer disciplinary measures in a fair and consistent manner to address and correct substandard performance.
  • Workforce & Frontline Coordination: Assist in the site hiring process and administer collective or hourly working agreements. Active and passive supervision of frontline teams to drive customer focus and operational efficiency.
  • Production Management: Determine manpower requirements, establish weekly production/maintenance schedules, and drive frontline teams to meet daily production targets.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate with the maintenance department to implement the Maintenance Module. Oversee mobile equipment fleet inspections, review external service reports, coordinate repairs, and track work orders.
  • Financial & Inventory Management: Assist in developing and adhering to annual maintenance budgets, participate in monthly EBIT reviews, and manage production and inventory forecasting to optimize yield and minimize working capital impact.
  • Shipping & Quality: Coordinate with sales, dispatch, and quality assurance personnel to ensure daily customer requirements are met, stockpile inventories are managed, and production-related quality issues are resolved.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Ensure compliance with Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) requirements, assist with the site Environmental Management System (EMS), manage daily water-taking data (PTTW), and mitigate environmental impact.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education & Experience:
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. 
    • Preferred field of study: Business, marketing, or engineering. 
    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. 
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • A strong background in digital tools, data management, and computer programming. 
  • Travel Requirements: 5%

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. 
  • Disciplined, process-oriented, and able to build effective working relationships across departments
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
