ABOUT THE ROLE

The Maintenance Coordinator is part of the plant management team and is responsible for administering and coordinating the repair and maintenance of Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment. One of the primary objectives of the maintenance coordinator is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Amrize South Chicago plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines. The maintenance coordinator assists in the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning the maintenance department and is responsible for ensuring that maintenance staff are knowledgeable of plant policies and procedures and follow them accordingly. The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations amongst the maintenance employees and with other departments.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH 

  • The Maintenance Coordinator is required to understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business. They must actively support safety initiative and assist the department as needed to improve Amrize South Chicago plant performance and results.
  • The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for inspecting Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment regularly. They may carry this out personally or produce an inspection schedule and direct employees to carry the inspections out. From these inspections, the maintenance coordinator will produce a maintenance report and schedule repairs and maintenance accordingly.
  • Responsible for planning production schedules, optimizing equipment utilization, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • As a member of the plant management team, they contribute to the overall performance improvement of the plant, ensuring coordination and cooperation between all departments.
  • One of the primary objectives is to supervise the Amrize South Chicago plant maintenance employees in order to reach the budgeted program within safety, quality, environmental and cost constraints.
  • The maintenance coordinator determines how the job will be performed and who will perform which activities. This includes creating and posting the weekly staff work schedule, calls out assignments and job postings. The maintenance coordinator must be available outside of normal work hours in case of emergency repairs, and is responsible for assessing the situation and assigning the call out.
  • The maintenance coordinator regularly checks on the status of repairs, maintenance and projects to ensure they are being completed on schedule and within budget. They will address issues which may cause delays, find solutions and make adjustments accordingly, as well as keep management informed of issues and progress.
  • Maintenance coordinator will utilize a computerized tracking tool for all maintenance activities, which is currently Maximo. This will include entering data and producing reports, for inspections, maintenance projects, preventative maintenance, repairs and other maintenance related activities.
  • The Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for directing and guiding (3) maintenance personnel. This position will be responsible for developing, coaching, and disciplinary within the maintenance team.
  • Assists plant management with preparation of plant improvement plan (PIP) and maintenance budget ensuring technical justification of plant maintenance operations. Performs monthly/weekly variance analysis (actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast) and uses other cost control techniques.
  • Manages budgetary accountability within department.
  • The maintenance coordinator evaluates the required repair work and creates the maintenance schedule for when the work will be done. The maintenance coordinator decides on which personnel would be appropriate to handle the job and supplies the workers with the necessary instruction manuals and materials for installations and repairs. The maintenance coordinator also manages the work schedule times for maintenance.
  • The maintenance coordinator is also responsible for maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery and ensuring that all preventative maintenance activities are performed on schedule with minimal interruption of production.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Education:  Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience of 7 plus years in similar roles
Field of Study Preferred: 
Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
Required Work Experience: 
4-7 years of prior supervisory skills

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
