ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior HME & Auxiliary Fleet Manager is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise fleet strategy for the Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME), Off-Road, and Auxiliary Fleet across the North America Aggregates and Construction Materials (NA ACM) business. This role leads enterprise-wide fleet planning, lifecycle management, capital & lease forecasting, equipment standardization, and performance optimization initiatives to maximize equipment availability while minimizing total cost of ownership (TCO).
Working collaboratively with Regional Fleet Managers, Performance Managers, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and OEM partners, this role serves as the North America subject matter expert for HME and Auxiliary Fleet strategy. The incumbent establishes standardized processes, policies, analytics, and reporting that improve asset utilization, optimize equipment lifecycle management, and support long-term business objectives.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Champion a culture of safety by promoting and adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Develop and implement the North America Aggregates & Construction Materials (ACM) fleet strategy for Heavy Mobile Equipment and Auxiliary Fleet assets.
- Lead the annual Target Fleet process with Regional Fleet Managers, including equipment replacement strategies, rebuild planning, and capital and lease forecasting across the North America ACM business.
- Lead the execution of annual Target Fleet process in partnership with Regional Fleet Managers, Procurement, Finance.
- Establish enterprise standards for fleet specifications, maintenance programs, and equipment replacement strategies.
- Develop and maintain a centralized database of all NA active mobile equipment fleet assets. Ensure data integrity through Regional Fleet Managers and regional teams managing data inputs.
- Develop and lead consistent fleet performance metrics and reporting that support operational and financial decision-making.
- Develop and lead enterprise approaches on preventive maintenance and standardized approaches to maintenance practices. Assess opportunities for additional system integrations to provide increased visibility and tracking of actual maintenance costs by asset.
- Optimize fleet utilization, equipment availability, and total cost of ownership through standardized lifecycle management practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that leverage technology, telematics, benchmarking, and industry best practices.
- Create a culture of knowledge sharing, benchmarking, innovation and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Lead the annual Target Fleet process (rebuild plan, replacement strategy, forecasting) through the development of a strategic and systematic approach and utilizing the Regional Fleet Managers
- Support the Regional plans for right-sizing, rebuilding, and replacing equipment for the following calendar year. Support process framework for forecast, approval, and delivery processes. Ensure budgetary forecasts are communicated within Operations, Finance, Procurement.
- Lead the execution of the Target Fleet plan in collaboration with the Regional Fleet Managers, Procurement, Operations and Finance. Develop strategy, processes and tools across North America ACM
- Equipment replacements – specifications and quoting, approval requests, sourcing, lead time forecasts, and tracking of lease and FCA commitments
- Approval Processes – Liaison with regions to streamline needs through capital or lease request approval processes. Provide direction for regional fleet managers / operations where needed
- Equipment rebuilds – (1) identification of the critical machines for winter rebuild and communicating those to the OEM dealers in conjunction with Regional Fleet Managers / Operations. Assist with inputs where required on additional rebuild scope requirements, or issues during rebuild execution
- Lease extensions and lease returns – negotiation of reductions on return conditions with lessors where applicable and inputs needed for Procurement negotiations
- Equipment disposals – working with Operations to dispose equipment, partnering with auctioneering firms, tracking revenue and communicating allocation to Finance, communicating status reports to Operations. Develop standardized approach amongst regions on equipment disposal processes
- Target Fleet databases – Ensure fleet databases are maintained with fleet changes (replacements, rebuild data, location changes / cascades, disposals). Develop and lead integration of a centralized fleet database for all NA active mobile equipment fleet. Ensure data integrity via Regional Fleet Managers
- Develop a common approach regarding equipment replacement and buy out strategies
- Oversee the management of the HME FCAs by the Regional Fleet Managers, ensuring all forecasting and reporting processes are consistent, ensuring accurate billing, validating equipment additions and serving as the contact for issue resolution the Fleet Managers need to escalate
- Develop means to report common standardized HME KPIs across regions (idle time, utilization, etc)
- Develop maintenance programs and standardized oil change and sampling policies
- Coordinate with the Regional Fleet Managers regarding site assessment needs, efficiency studies, and fleet capacity studies where applicable – greatest impact first
- Identify continuous improvement projects like field follow / pilot opportunities with OEMs for new or developing technologies for operational integration
- Share best practices identified within regions. All efforts towards optimizing equipment availability and lowering TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)
- Perform other related duties and strategic initiatives as assigned to support business objectives.

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Business
Required Work Experience: 10 years experience
Required Training/Certifications:
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP. Experience with Power BI
Travel Requirements: 25% - 35%
Additional Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of HME and auxiliary mobile equipment operation, maintenance and application sizing
- Understanding of the construction materials / aggregate mining industry, including quarrying and production processes
