ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Marine Dispatcher will join a high-performing team and play a key role in the success of the Amrize Greater Vancouver Aggregates Group. The Amrize Marine Division provides tug and barge services to internal and external customers throughout the Greater Vancouver Area.

The primary objectives of this role are to optimize marine operations, maximize asset utilization, manage operating costs, and support revenue objectives while ensuring that services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer requirements.

The Marine Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining effective day-to-day marine operations, coordinating vessel and crew schedules, supporting customer requirements, monitoring operating costs and KPIs, and working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, HR, and other stakeholders to achieve operational and financial objectives.

This role requires a strong understanding of marine operations, sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced operating environment.

This role requires on-call duties on a weekly rotational basis to ensure peak operational performance and provide operational support outside regular working hours.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

• Optimize the utilization of Amrize’s marine fleet by balancing customer demand, vessel availability, crew resources, service levels, and operating costs.
• Deliver reliable and efficient marine services by ensuring vessel movements, material deliveries, and customer requirements are coordinated effectively.
• Maintain strong operational performance through timely decision-making, proactive problem-solving, and effective response to changing priorities and unforeseen disruptions.
• Support financial performance by identifying opportunities to control operating costs, improve fuel efficiency, maximize asset utilization, and strengthen the return on marine assets.
• Provide accurate and timely operational and financial information to support performance management, forecasting, and informed business decisions.
• Build strong working relationships across Operations, Maintenance, Finance, HR, other Amrize divisions, customers, and marine personnel to achieve shared operational objectives.
• Support a well-coordinated and engaged marine workforce by ensuring crews have the information, resources, and scheduling support required to meet operational needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across marine operations by identifying opportunities to improve service, efficiency, communication, and overall operational performance.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Post-secondary diploma 

Field of Study Preferred: Business, Logistics, Marine Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Work Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in marine, aggregate, transportation, or logistics operations.

Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with knowledge of marine and land transportation operations; experience with aggregate production and barge operations is an asset.

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
