ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Equipment Operator in our Asphalt division.The Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate multiple types of asphalt and construction equipment, including skid steers, rollers, tack trucks, material transfer machines, asphalt paving machines, screeds, and/or milling machines, while performing equipment inspections, supporting paving and milling operations, maintaining proper material placement, grade, alignment, and compaction, and following all safety procedures and project requirements.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Operate multiple types of asphalt and heavy construction equipment, including skid steers, rollers, tack trucks, material transfer machines, asphalt pavers, screeds, and milling machines.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
  • Operate asphalt paving equipment to support the proper placement, depth, grade, and alignment of asphalt materials.
  • Operate rollers and compaction equipment to achieve proper density and a smooth, finished pavement surface.
  • Operate milling machines to safely remove existing asphalt and prepare surfaces for new paving.
  • Operate skid steers and other support equipment for material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and general paving activities.
  • Operate tack trucks to apply tack coat materials according to project specifications and paving requirements.
  • Operate material transfer machines to efficiently receive, transfer, and distribute asphalt materials during paving operations.
  • Operate screed equipment and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent asphalt depth, grade, and surface quality.
  • Communicate and coordinate with foremen, laborers, truck drivers, and other equipment operators to maintain safe and efficient paving operations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following company policies, OSHA requirements, traffic-control procedures, and all applicable job-site safety standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
     

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt paving or heavy construction equipment, with the ability to safely and effectively operate multiple types of equipment
  • Travel Requirements: Daily travel required, Must have reliable transportation
  • Previous experience operating asphalt, paving, or heavy construction equipment.
  • Experience operating multiple types of equipment rather than being limited to one machine.
  • Ability to safely operate skid steers, rollers, tack trucks, material transfer machines, asphalt pavers, screeds, and milling machines.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt paving and construction operations.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively under the supervision of a Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Demonstrated commitment to job-site safety and proper equipment operation.
  • Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety issues.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime when required by project schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a paving crew.
  • Ability to maintain focus and operate heavy equipment safely around coworkers, vehicles, and active job sites.
  • Willingness to assist with general paving and construction activities when needed.
  • Ability to learn and operate additional equipment as business and project needs require.
  • Professional attitude, accountability, and commitment to producing quality work while meeting project schedules.
     

Additional Requirements:

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
