ABOUT THE ROLE

Aggregates is an exciting industry where successful applicants get to experience the innovative and challenging world of mining while still being situated in an urban environment. As a member of the Dundas Quarry team, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production activities at the Dundas Quarry, which is the largest limestone mining manufacturing operation in Eastern Canada. The primary focus is to lead the health and safety of the production department while leveraging operational excellence to achieve high productivity at the lowest cost. The Production Supervisor leads by example, supporting alignment with Safety, Environment, Land, and Manufacturing groups while engaging with neighbors and local communities.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Develop and instill a site-level safety culture through consistent engagement with employees and contractors.
  • Lead daily huddles and ensure employee compliance with health and safety policies, including hazard reporting and risk assessments.
  • Directly manage the development, motivation, and training of all direct reports to maximize performance.
  • Determine manpower requirements and manage weekly production and maintenance schedules to meet daily targets.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the mobile equipment fleet, including inspections and coordinating repairs.
  • Manage production and inventory forecasting to optimize yield, profitability, and minimize working capital impact.
  • Coordinate with sales, dispatch, and quality personnel to ensure customer requirements and shipping standards are met.
  • Ensure site-level compliance with Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) requirements and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Grade 12 Diploma; a College Degree in Engineering or Business is a definite asset.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, organization, and planning skills; proficiency with various computer applications.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the aggregate industry is preferred; understanding of general accounting principles is an asset.
  • Core Competencies: Action-oriented, building effective teams, conflict management, and strong problem-solving skills.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with SAP, Ariba, and financial review/PO receiving.
  • Safety profile requirements: Surface Miner, Confined Space, Working at Heights, and LOTOTO.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
