We’re seeking a Quality Manager who’s ready to be part of a people-first company offering best-in-class products, exceptional training, and deep industry pride—all built to help our partners and team succeed.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Quality Manager leads quality assurance and quality control functions for a manufacturing facility producing commercial roofing adhesives and sealants. This role is responsible for
ensuring consistent product performance, driving measurable improvements in process capability and yield, and maintaining compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and
industry standards. The position plays a critical role in using data-driven methods to reduce variation, improve first pass success, and strengthen both production and packaging quality systems.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:

  • Lead all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including laboratory and in-process quality functions.
  • Directly manage and develop laboratory technicians (hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and day-to-day oversight).
  • Oversee testing of raw materials and finished products (e.g., viscosity, solids, adhesion, cure, moisture, rheology, and composition).
  • Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing variation and improving product consistency.
  • Partner with production and operations to improve process capability (Cpk/Ppk) in both manufacturing and packaging systems (e.g., fill weights, seal integrity, labeling accuracy).
  • Monitor and improve First Pass Yield (FPY) across production and packaging lines.
  • Utilize Pareto analysis to identify top quality losses and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Own and lead CAPAs related to customer complaints, ensuring timely root cause identification, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Lead root cause investigations (OOS, OOT, internal non-conformances) using structured problem-solving methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and batch release decisions.
  • Manage supplier quality and raw material qualification programs.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits and ensure audit readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS and safe laboratory practices.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • First Pass Yield (FPY): Measurable improvement in right-first-time batch production and packaging runs.
  • Process Capability (Cpk/Ppk): Improvement and sustainment of capable processes across production and packaging systems.
  • Pareto Reduction: Demonstrated reduction in top defect categories through data-driven action plans.
  • Scrap and Rework Reduction: Year-over-year decrease in cost of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Customer Complaints / CAPA Effectiveness: Reduction in complaint rate and timely, effective closure of CAPAs.
  • Batch & Packaging Release Cycle Time: Improved turnaround time without compromising quality.
  • Audit Performance: Successful internal/external audits with minimal findings.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
  • Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 5–10 years of experience in quality or laboratory management within adhesives, sealants, coatings, or related chemical manufacturing
  • Prior experience leading or supervising lab technicians or QC personnel
  • Strong understanding of polymer systems (acrylics, polyurethanes, silicones, asphaltic materials)
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Expertise in statistical analysis and process control (SPC)
  • Hands-on experience improving Cpk/Ppk and FPY in both manufacturing and packaging
    operations
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar)
  • Structured problem-solving skills (5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto-driven decision making)
  • Ability to translate data into actionable operational improvements
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills
  • Experience in commercial roofing systems or building materials and relevant ASTM test methods
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA)
  • Experience with rheology, GC, FTIR, or other analytical techniques
  • Experience with packaging equipment validation and fill-line optimization
  • Background supporting field performance issues or technical service teams

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Medical, Dental, Disability and Life Insurance
  • Holistic Health & Well-being programs
