ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, implementing, and supporting industrial control systems across multiple manufacturing sites. This role provides hands-on expertise while supporting, troubleshooting, performing system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. They will partner closely with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of automation systems.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Support and execute the controls engineering strategy by contributing hands-on technical expertise to regional and plant-level initiatives.
  • Ensure electrical and controls systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, OSHA).
  • Design, develop, program, and implement electrical and control systems for manufacturing and process applications.
  • Program, configure, troubleshoot, and support plant systems.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and industrial networks through both onsite and remote support.
  • Analyze equipment and process performance to identify opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, safety, and throughput.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage assigned electrical and controls engineering projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget requirements are met.
  • Lead and coordinate contractors and system integrators during control system installations, upgrades, and commissioning.
  • Specify, evaluate, and support procurement of electrical and controls components, including control panels, PLC hardware, field devices, drives, and networking equipment.

 

 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
  • At least five years of controls engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Studio 5000, RS Logix 500, FT View ME, Aveva, and Ignition
  • Proficiency in selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs, I/O, Power Flex VFDs, and Kinetix servo drives.
  • Experience in selecting and configuring instrumentation.
  • Experience in maintaining OT networks, including servers and managed switches.
  • Controls experience with a continuous web handling operation.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards: NEC, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 79.
