Were seeking a Production Supervisor who's ready to be part of an innovative, people-first brand shaping the future of the roofing industry.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE
Position supports and works collaboratively with other OP Supervisors, Management, and Sales to deliver defect free material on-time to internal and external customers as required. Oversees
production builds and flow from multi-facetted machines, producing key components for Protect All Flooring and Duro-Last Roof Membrane accessory products, including team member training and development, reporting, record keeping, and employee time tracking. The Supervisor conducts all operations with a high level of stewardship in accordance with our STIR philosophy of Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect that eliminates injuries, prevents pollution, and minimizes waste to our environment.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

 

  • Operations - Oversees plant operations for an assigned shift in a 24/7 operating plastics extrusion facility, is the pacesetter for the day to day operational routines executed by hourly team members and
    executes schedules/run plans as outlined by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager. Ensures that smooth transitions are maintained between shifts, hot hand offs are performed, and identifies opportunities with machine inefficiencies. Drives culture of safety and leads corrective actions for safety unplanned events. Creates a sense of urgency when equipment is not running and ensures that people are safe, utilized effectively, and they deliver optimal quality. Holds team accountable to machine uptime and proper reporting. Leads team in productive activities such as cleaning, 5S, minor maintenance etc., when machines go down. Maintains budgets within work areas assigned to keep cost in line with annual operating plans. (70%)
  • Administrative Duties - Performs hourly employee reviews and ensures reviews are maintained and submitted on time. The primary administrator for daily shift summaries and communications. Monitors
    and executes time card daily monitoring (UKG). Ensures that performance metrics (Gemba) boards are maintained. Drives SOP creation, monthly compliance, Near miss closure, and safety training as outline by Safety team. Helps populate data used for continuous improvement projects. Maintains employee files, engages in employee relations daily, and supports HR with requested activities such as labor retention, placement and termination. (10%)
  • Inventory - Ensures that data integrity is maintained and proper paperwork is performed in all work areas, turned in accordingly, and corrects day to day mistakes to ensure that inventory write offs are minimal & within period. (5%)
  • Meetings - Daily shift hand off meetings, Supervisor meetings, leads daily Gemba walk, Department meetings, Quality, EHS, and Monthly plant meetings as required.
  • Continuous Improvement -Leads shift improvement projects that contribute to the bottom line profitability of the plant operations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


Education: Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred or minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience
Field of Study Preferred: Plastics/Chemical
Required Computer and Software Skills: Position will require typing, basic computer skills, Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and UKG payroll system.
Travel Requirements: Minimal; <5%

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a high stress dynamic manufacturing environment, be a self-starter, knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety basics, Lean principles, and Structured Problem-Solving training
  • Position is entrusted to make decisions that are suited in the best interest of Duro-Last, Operates in accordance to Duro-Last Handbook, and direction from the Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for communication to Senior level managers, writing reports as required, Review integrity, SOP development, and communication through e-mail to internal and possibly external
    customers.
  • Abilities to problem solve and use continuous improvement tools that increase profitably by reducing scrap, increasing machine up-time, reducing changeover, and increasing 1st Time quality
    focus. Must have strong communication; interpersonal skills to build rapport with employees, keeping them engaged to achieve high employee morale and output.
  • Position will require previous Supervisor or Leader skills in Dealing with ambiguity, Conflict resolution, Goal setting, building effective Teams, Communication and Decision making. Strong
    mechanical backgrounds in machine operations and plastics extrusion a plus.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment, including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative.
