ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Environment - Western Canada, this position will assist in optimizing environmental management practices and maintaining environmental compliance with all regulatory requirements at the Amrize Texada Quarry. This position will work to engage with the BC Environment Manager and Texada Operations staff to drive permit-related compliance programs across several environmental disciplines, supporting improved environmental and sustainability performance. The position will be based out of the Texada Island Quarry, located in Van Anda, BC. The position is a majority field-based position.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Support Amrize environment commitments by ensuring all operations comply with environmental laws, policies and procedures, and strive for continuous environmental improvement. Support Amrize's
- health and safety commitments by ensuring all work is executed in a safe manner, complying with all safety guidelines at our operations.
- Support Texada Island Quarry operations with permit compliance under BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, and BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation requirements, and corporate sustainability and environmental initiatives.
- Implement the Texada Island Quarry environmental management program, including: surface water, groundwater, sediment, aggregate, and biota sampling, air quality and emissions monitoring, remediation and reclamation programs, erosion and sediment control programs, and continuous improvement programs. Assist in drafting of required regulatory reports by organizing and interpreting large
- quantities of analytical results, and providing data to consultants. Assist with the environment and sustainability training program and the environmental auditing program for Coastal BC Amrize operations.
- Assist Texada Quarry operations in responding to environmental incidents and resolving environmental issues.
- Provide project management as needed for day-to-day activities and environmental projects.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Technical Diploma or a University Degree.
Additional Education Preferred: Professional designation, or the ability to obtain, is preferred (P.Ag, R.P.Bio, P.Eng).
Field of Study Preferred: Earth Sciences, Biology, Engineering, Environment, or related discpline.
Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of related environmental experience. Consulting or fieldwork experience sampling soil, water and biota.Experience working with operations in heavy industry.
Required Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, SAP.
Travel Requirements: 0-10%
Additional Requirements:
- Working knowledge of technical environmental programs, provincial and federal laws.
- Experience with technical report writing and interpretation of data.
- Experience implementing technical environmental programs and managing consultants.
- Outgoing, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, technical ability, and critical thinking skills.
- High degree of professionalism.
- Pragmatic, independent worker with a drive for self-improvement and progression.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees who are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
