ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a General Laborer to support operations at the Ready Mix plant located in NW Washington D.C (Ft.Totten). This role is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the ready mix plant by performing general labor, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. This role works closely with plant operators and other team members to maintain equipment, assist with production activities, and help keep the plant running efficiently
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Assist with the daily operations of the ready mix concrete plant.
- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, shoveling, and cleaning work areas.
- Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and supplies throughout the plant.
- Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
- Clean concrete mixers, hoppers, conveyors, and other plant equipment.
- Monitor material stockpiles and help maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Support plant operators with production and loading activities.
- Inspect work areas for safety hazards and report maintenance or equipment issues.
- Operate hand tools and small power equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements.
- Perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Complete other general labor and plant support duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Required Work Experience: Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, concrete, or an industrial environment is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and following company policies and procedures.
- Reliable attendance with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant equipment and processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended hours as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Willingness to obtain or maintain required safety certifications and participate in ongoing training.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and report equipment or operational issues promptly
- Work in outdoor industrial conditions including dust, noise, and varying weather while maintaining productivity.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
