ABOUT THE ROLE 
Reporting to the General Manager, Ready-Mix and Aggregates, the Operations Manager will execute the business strategy and provide leadership to the Plant Managers and Supervisors on key operational initiatives while maximizing profitability and optimization of resources, ensuring that all products and services that touch the customer are of high quality and customers receive excellent service. The Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of operations for all rural and GWA Ready-Mix plants and customer project sites with a focus on identifying and executing effective operational strategies that will allow the team to achieve established targets for safety, environmental, financial and operational performance while fostering a strong safety culture that is built on respect and supports the development of our people. 


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Leads the business with the utmost focus on health, safety, housekeeping and the environment. Proactively implements Amrize best practices, engages with all levels of employees in this regard and ensures team members are actively seeking out real time solutions to identified risks. 
  • Works in concert with the business unit resources to identify strategic economic strengths, trends, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the market area and strategically puts the business in strong positions.
  • Drives for continuous business performance improvement while never compromising Amrize’s commitment to providing “easy and hassle free” service to the customer. Ensure customer satisfaction with excellent products and quality service.
  • Leads with customer satisfaction as a priority.  Identifies potential customers requiring attention and approaches them accordingly, in conjunction with the RMX Sales team. Maintains customer contact as well as oversees the resolution of customer complaints. 
  • Improves margins through the right combination of product, services, strategic placement and cost reduction. Assists in preparing and implementing the annual financial outlooks. Ensures optimal utilization of assets. Forecasts all financial information, monthly and as required, including variance analysis. Forecasts monthly financial costs and monitors costs throughout the month and adjusts/manages change as required.  Analyze and maximizes Key Performance Indicators, tying them back to the financial reports to optimize efficiency and costs.
  • Monitors monthly key performance indicators to assess financial and operational performance and assesses and implement necessary performance changes to ensure production efficiencies. 
  • Works closely with the management, supervisory, logistics and larger team to develop and promote a professional approach to managing the business. Communicates and leads company initiatives and pursues best practices. 
  • Takes a primary role in coaching, training and developing key operations personnel.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Undergraduate Degree. 
Field of Study Preferred: Business, Engineering, or Construction Management. A combination of technical/business diploma and relevant experience would be considered. 
Required Work Experience: 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in the ready mix or construction business. Experience managing a large team of employees in both union and non-union environments would be considered an asset.
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP. 
Travel Requirements: 11-20%

  • Skilled multi-tasker, capable of balancing shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees at all levels, department officials, public and private agencies, and the general public.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and a drive for positive change.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills with intermediate level comfort working with various software programs, strong computer skills.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
