ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize Canada has an immediate opportunity at our Edmonton Alberta Canada location for a Quality Control Technician to support our Ready Mix Concrete quality operations in the greater Edmonton area through pre-pour and post-pour checks, performing concrete testing, and assuring that products meet specifications. The successful applicant for this position must work well in a team environment, demonstrate a strong, independent work ethic, and continuously improve their own personal performance and skills.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform quality control functions including testing of plastic and hardened concrete and testing of aggregates.
  • Field testing of concrete and controlling concrete quality at the plant and in the field.
  • Maintain and perform detailed records of testing documentation.
  • Provide technical support to production staff and advise them if testing shows deficiencies.
  • Test and verify production concrete product as batched or on site.
  • Perform all necessary tasks related to testing and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: A degree from college or university with a 2-year degree (Associate Degree) in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) is considered an asset.
  • Required Training/Certifications: CCIL or ACI Certification is considered a strong asset.
  • Required Work Experience: Previous construction related or concrete work is considered an asset.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • strong written and verbal communication skills; and excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently with limited supervision, and be a professional team player with a positive attitude
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s license along with access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work at varying start times which can include nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, lift up to 45 pounds, and climb ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles.
  • Able to work in an industrial environment (dust, heat, loud noise) while wearing required PPE.
  • A pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, is required
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
